- Advanced six-speed auto on Ranger 2.2 TDCi for first time
- Available July in all three body styles and specs
- Ranger ‘even more competitive choice’
The latest Ford Ranger, top-selling bakkie in South Africa seven times in 13 months, will expand its model range in July led by a sophisticated six-speed auto in 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi models.
Tracey Delate, general manager for Ford Southern Africa, told The Corner in a media release: “The success of the auto transmission option on the Ranger is unprecedented – almost 70% of buyers have chosen auto over manual in the 3.2-litre models.
“The latest refinements, increased performance and better fuel-efficiency of the Rangers, particularly the updated 2.2 118kW/385Nm Duratorq TDCi, has drawn more customers to the auto.
“So, we’re delighted to announce that a 2.2-litre auto will be available from July to give the Ranger even more appeal as one of the first auto bakkies among smaller-capacity intermediate models.”
Nine 2.2 TDCi auto variants will be available, taking the revised Ranger line-up to 36 across three body styles – single cab, four-door Super Cab and the double-cab which has dominated its segment since 2014.
