KNYSNA, Western Cape – Jaguar, one of the main sponsors of the event, will bring its latest model of the million-rand+ F-Type to the 2017 Simola Hillclimb event.

It will be the car’s marketing debut with styling updates and new technology to improve what the automaker describes as “our most dynamically capable, performance-focused” car.

Lisa Mallett, Jaguar Land Rover SA and sub-Saharan Africa’s marketing director, told The Corner in a media release: “The Simola Hillclimb is an excellent opportunity to showcase a car such as the F-Type, one that perfectly demonstrates the art of performance.

“It’s fitting that the cars will debut in dynamic fashion with fans seeing and hearing them in action.”

Three F-Type models will mix it with other high-performance vehicles on the twisting 1.9km route: 423kW all-wheel drive F-Type SVR coupé and convertible and a Special Edition F-Type 400 Sport powered by Jaguar’s 294kW (400hp) supercharged three-litre V6 petrol engine.

NEW INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM

“The latest F-Type’s award-wining design is,” Jaguar says, “stronger and more focused and has a clearer visual range differentiation thanks to model-specific front bumpers. Diode headlights further boost visual appeal, driving safety, and comfort through greatly enhanced night illumination.”

The cars now also have an ‘InControl Touch Pro’ infotainment system (though drivers certainly won’t be worrying about that on The Hill!) that claims ‘super-fast’ intuitive tablet-style operation and satnav with traffic and weather reports.

A ReRun app combines video from a GoPro app with key performance data – speed, throttle position, gear selection, braking and g-force – and the result can be downloaded to a smartphone for sharing on social media.

Buyers who prefer a more genuine driving experience the V6 Jaguars can now be specified with a six-speed manual transmission.

The SE400 Sport will be available with the 294kW three-litre supercharged V6, Super Performance brakes, configurable dynamics and 20″ dark grey wheel rims will be available for only a year.

Prices for the latest F-Type start at R1 063 900 for the 250kW, three-litre supercharged manual Coupé. For more information and to “build your own F-Type”, visit http://www.jaguar.co.za
