- Audi Q8 crossover SUV to build in Bratislava…
- …Q4 compact SUV in Győr from 2019
- …and, no, we didn’t know where they were either
AUDI HAS ANNOUNCED that two more Q models are to go into production – an Audi Q8 in Bratislava (Slovakia) in 2018 and the Audi Q4 in Győr (Hungary) the following year.
Hubert Walt, Audi management board member for production and logistics, told The Corner in a media release: “We will integrate two completely new Q‑models into the existing production network to increase our competitiveness in an extremely important segment.
“The Q8 will open a new segment for its top models as a coupe-style premium SUV that combines cabin space with emotive design and the latest technology in assistance and infotainment systems.”
ANOTHER COMPACT SUV
The Q7 has been assembled at the Slovakian plant since 2005; the second generation of the large SUV is now being built as an S version and as the Q7 e-tron plug-in hybrid.
2019 will see the start of Q4 production at Audi Hungaria in Győr “to join the compact SUV segment”, another car with a coupe silhouette but positioned, Audi says, between the Q3 and Q5.
Production of the Q3 will in 2018 move from Martorell in Spain to Hungary.
