SHANGHAI, China – Lynk&Co, a fresh brand in the auto world, has revealed its first two models at a preview here ahead of the city’s 2017 auto show that will open on April 19.
Lynk&Co is a brand from Geely Auto, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holdings which also owns the resurgent Volvo Cars and the London Taxi Company, and is one of China’s largest automakers.
Alain Visser, a Lynk&Co vice-president, told The Corner in a media release: “Only five months into our company’s life the promised range of vehicles, their quality of technology and connectivity, and the brand’s identity are being proved.
“We promise a lifetime warranty on every car and free data traffic for connectivity to underline our challenge to the traditional business model of the car industry.”
The company’s stand at the show will display the first production models and an 03 design concept after a presentation by Peter Horbury, Geely Auto Group’s excecutive vice-president for design.
The Lynk&Co business plan is based on state-of-the art connected cars, priced competitively and which, Visser said, could be bought online and delivered to the buyer’s home. A flexible subscription plan, he added, “will bring owners’ and users’ experience up-to-date with the expectations of a new generation of car buyers used to smartphone-app service levels of convenience”.
Visser added: “We believe Lynk&Co will offer the world’s most-connected cars with the first in-car digital sharing. We also offer a new business model, with a simplified product offer, transparent fixed-pricing and an attractive purchase and ownership experience here in China.
“We will bring a unique offer of connected mobility, with the option to share your car, where everything is included. The key to everything we do is simplicity.”
The 01 products, and their followers, use Swedish design and engineering and will be sold globally, starting with China. Geely Auto Group is one of China’s largest car manufacturers.
