- Jaguar Classic Parts available soon through JLR
- Each made to original Jaguar designs
- More than 30 000 parts for six classic models
PRETORIA, South Africa – Jaguar Land Rover SA will soon have stock of genuine service and maintenance parts for classic Jaguars.
The catalogue will have more than 30 000 part numbers, each made from original drawings by Jaguar or its original suppliers, for Jaguar E-Type, XJ, XJS, XK8, XJ6 and XJ12 models.
Such parts were used in the Jaguar Classic XJ-S V12 race car entered in the 2017 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb and driven by American multi-championship race ace Randy Pobst (below, right). The car, Jaguar SA said, performed flawlessly through all six race sessions up Simola Hill above the scenic holiday town of Knysna.
The XJ-S is road-registered vehicle that, Jaguar says, relies on genuine Jaguar parts in critical areas and its 5.3-lire V12 was lubricated by classic Castrol oil.
Sharnie Malan, customer services director with Jaguar Land Rover Sub-Sahara Africa, told The Corner in a media release: “Every care is taken to make sure the genuine parts and oils are of the highest quality – we want to keep the classic Jaguars running for decades to come.
“We’re incredibly proud of our heritage so it was tremendous to see the XJ-S charge up Simola Hill – a true test for the parts and testament to their quality.”
The catalogue includes exterior items – body panels and cosmetic – along with engine and driveline components, each made from original specifications and, where possible, by the original suppliers. Many are used to ensure Jaguar’s new reproductions are accurate – such as body panels for the E-Type.
Original-spec E-Type panels, JLR says, were recreated using 3D computer-aided design technology and modern techniques were used to treat them to to withstand corrosion.
Jaguar Classic Genuine Parts will be available through the JLR retail network across South Africa.
