PRETORIA, Gauteng – Jaguar F-Type sport cars can now be had with a two-litre, four-cylinder, Ingenium engine capable of delivering 221kW/400Nm – said to be the most powerful four yet fitted to a production Jaguar.

This all-new Ingenium, designed and built by Jaguar, can take the car from 0-100km/h in 5.7sec and go on to reach 250km/h. The Coupé version starts at R953 400, the Convertible at R971 000.

Jaguar says the engine, lighter by 52kg over the front axle, has not only enhanced the car’s agility but also its fuel-efficiency; it uses a twin-scroll turbo which pretty much eliminates the dreaded ‘turbo lag’.

An eight-speed auto transmission is standard.

A meticulously tuned active exhaust, the automaker says, is standard even the least-expensive models; R-Dynamic units have a switchable system for “a more involved driving experience”.

The latter also comes with 19” wheel rims, diode front lights, unique bumpers and sills and gloss-black interior trim finishes.

Each Jaguar F-Type 2.0 – Coupé and Convertible – has new slimline and six-way power adjustable sport seats, touchscreen controls, satnav and Meridian audio.

The two-litre F-Types will go on sale in South Africa from the third quarter of 2017. Interested? Then build your own on, using the Jaguar configurator.
