PRETORIA, South Africa – The Range Rover Velar is now available to order at Land Rover dealers across South Africa, a fourth model in the Range Rover family which, the automaker says, “brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance – and is the most customisable – yet.
Or, potential buyers can use the Land Rover Configurator to customise their a Velar – or any other Land Rover model available in South Africa. Prices start at R947 700.
The Land Rover products will primarily be available as Velar and Velar R-Dynamic units in four spec levels – base, S, SE and HSE – with a choice of Ingenium four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
There will also be a flagship Velar First Edition available in only one version but with every available option and a choice of exterior colour, wheel design and engine – six-cylinder petrol or diesel.

Velar buyers will be able to choose from 17 wheel designs, 13 exterior paints, and three exterior trim packs. The cabin can be specified from a choice of 15 material finishes.
Land Rover’s new InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system has two 25.5cm high-definition touch screens that, Land Rover claims, keep physical switches to a minimum.
While the Velar so far described sounds very posh, Land Rover points put that the vehicles will have class-leading ground clearance wading depth and Land Rover’s full suite of traction technology.
Each unit will have “world-class all-terrain capability” with air suspension, eight-speed auto transmissions and all-wheel drive.
The Range Rover Velar will go on sale through the last three months of 2017.
