‘Lexus Electrified’ gives birth to all-electric UX 300e

GUANGZHOU, China – Lexus, since introducing the RX 400h in 2005,  has been a pioneer in vehicle electrification and says it has played a leading role in offering products that demonstrate performance and environmental friendliness.

Now, at the 2019 Tokyo auto show, the automaker has launched a global electrification strategy, called “Lexus Electrified”, and describes it as ‘ a fundamental leap in vehicle performance, handling, control and driver enjoyment”.

”In particular,,the automaker says, ”the technology of Lexus Electrified enables integrated control of powertrain, steering, suspension, and brakes, realising the ultimate potential of the motor control technology cultivated in hybrid vehicles.

”With this technology, Lexus can control the driving force to provide ideal vehicle posture according to each driving situation. Lexus endeavours to continue providing enjoyable and safer driving vehicles.”

NEW ELECTRIC BANNER

The all-electric UX 300e, the first production model under the Lexus Electrified banner,  is said to have been developed for excellent road performance. ”Our engineers,” Lexus says, ”kept the distinctive design and the utility characteristics of the UX crossover intact to focus on opportunities to build on the performance advantages unique to EVs.

”The UX 300e’s high-output motor provides a natural-yet-brisk acceleration character and the high-capacity batteries located under the floor deliver a low centre of gravity and 400km-driving range.”

The UX 300e is scheduled to go on sale in Chinese and European markets in 2020, in Japan in early 2021.
